Transportation.
You can get to the city from the Sabiha Gokcen Airport by either Subway or Havaist Bus.
Modern and main way of paying for public transport in Istanbul is Istanbulkart. The card can be acquired in subway stations, it’s usable for subway, Marmaray, buses, metro-buses, funiculars, cable cars and ferries.
Istanbul Taxi – yellow cars with a taximeter, but for convenience it’s better to use BiTaksi App(mediocre functionality).

Communication.
Internet in Istanbul as of 2026 can be accessed via SIM/eSIM(Turkcell, Vodafone, Türk Telekom). Tourists’ SIM Cards in Turkey usually function for 28/30 or 90 days from the moment of activation, depending on the operator and the package chosen, the most common worktime is 30 days.
It is recommended to purchase the SIM Card not at the Airport but in one of the city’s mobile operator shops.

Currency.
1$ ~ 43 TRY(as of early 2026).

Safety.
Istanbul is mostly safe but tourists must be careful of smaller crimes(pickpocketing/scammers) especially in a crowd or near landmarks. Also be careful of taxi-scammers, avoid places of public protests, constantly check the news and keep to basic safety measures.
